Seeing Cedar Point during the off-season

The day the park closes for the "Off-season", it becomes off-limits to the public. Being that Cedar Point is on a peninsula, you can't just "drive by it", but by going to either or both of the places below, you will get as close as you can to the "World's Largest Amusement Park".

1.    Battery Park

Battery Park, located across the bay, is a great way to view Cedar Point. From the parking lot of Battery Park, the entire Cedar Point peninsula is viewable. Once inside the park (its free) you can walk out on a path, which lead to a sea wall, which takes you farther out into the bay. With the naked eye, you can see all the major rides and roller coasters. When we visited, we used a zoom of 100x and we could see cars driving around inside the park!

The Details:

  • Free
  • Small Playground for children
  • A restaurant is located in the park which specializes in ribs.

Driving Directions

The park is located on 5th Street, near the Sandusky Police Station, which is approximately 1.5 miles away from Cedar Point.

  • On the turnpike, get off at exit 250

  • On 2, get off at exit 250

Once on 250, head north until you reach Cleveland Road.  Take Cleveland road east, and turn north on Cedar Point Drive. You will head north for about .5 of a mile, at which point Cedar Point Drive turns into the "Cedar Point Causeway". INSTEAD of heading down the Cedar Point Causeway, turn left on First Street. Take First Street for about a 1 mile. At the CVS Drugstore, turn north onto 6th Street and take it until ends, at which time you will see Battery Park (and Cedar Point on your right).

2.    Bay Harbor Restaurant - At Cedar Point
If you have an appetite for seafood, and want to visit the Cedar Point peninsula itself, then the Bay Harbor restaurant is for you! Located in the Cedar Point Marina, the Boathouse serves up fresh sea food during the entire year. During the Cedar Point off season, it serves only dinner.

The Details:

  • Seafood and Ribs
  • Children's Menu
  • Dress is casual.

Driving Directions

Cedar Point/Bay Harbor is located on Cedar Point Drive/Causeway.

  • On the turnpike, get off at the 250 exit

  • On 2, get off at the 250 exit

Once on 250, head north until you reach Cleveland Road.  Take Cleveland road east, and turn north on Cedar Point Drive. You will head north for about .5 of a mile, at which point Cedar Point Drive turns into the "Cedar Point Causeway". Continue down Cedar Point Road onto the Causeway, until you reach the toll booths. Drive up to the largest tollbooth (the one farthest on the left), and tell the attendant you wish to eat at the Boathouse. They will direct you to head about a quarter mile north to the Cedar Point Marina. When you get to Blue Streak's turnaround there is another tollbooth. At this point, turn left into the Cedar Point Marina.
